“When I opened the door, I just felt safe.”
Before coming to Dove House, Kristy was experiencing homelessness and had lost custody of her children due to her substance use disorder. Upon being released from jail, she walked directly to Dove House with only the clothes on her back.
When she opened the doors to Dove House, she was immediately welcomed with a hug. That hug is what made her want to stay. She knew she was right where she needed to be… surrounded by people who loved her, so she could learn to love herself.
Earlier this year, Kristy and her wife purchased a house, which has always been a dream of hers. Today, Kristy is an incredible leader on the Dove House team as a Peer Recovery Specialist. Dove House has certainly opened some life changing doors for Kristy.
