Dove House’s 13th Annual Celebration Luncheon & Dessert Dash Celebrates Record-Breaking Year
Last Thursday, Dove Recovery House for Women hosted over 400 guests for the annual Celebration Luncheon & Dessert Dash. Combining sponsorships, the Dessert Dash, and Birthday Gift purchases, we were able to raise more than an incredible $170,000.
“With budget cuts and an uncertain economy, we expected to come in lower this year,” Amy Magan, Director of Development said, expressing the team’s excitement for such a terrific result. “This total goes to show that the community believes in the important work that we do, that recovery is possible.”
The event, hosted by WTHR’s Samantha Johnson and returning emcee Scott Semester featured stories of Dove House Alumni, their families, and words of gratitude from Pastor Burt Brock, father of Meranda, a Dove House alum who celebrated 10 years of sobriety in July.
The highest Dessert Dash table donation was $5,000! The first-place finishers grabbed an amazing dessert charcuterie donated by The Bountiful Board. And that was just the first of 52 delectable treats – every table got to enjoy a delicious dessert! Twenty-five guests purchased mystery Birthday Gifts that included everything from a diamond necklace to a Republic Airways flight experience. This was a fun twist to the Celebration Luncheon’s usual events.
The luncheon left us with a lot of people to celebrate but let’s look at just how much impact was generated.
It costs $40 to fund a Dove for a full day of housing, meals and therapy.
Thanks to the generosity shown at the luncheon, Dove Recovery House can now provide over 4,200 days of safe housing and substance use treatment. With an average stay of six months, that impact translates to life-changing support for 23 women on their recovery journey. Thank you!
