Behind the Board: Kelly Todd

The important work being done at Dove Recovery House would not be possible without the dedication and leadership of some of Indiana’s most committed community supporters who serve on our Board of Directors.

We are pleased to welcome Kelly Todd, who joined the Dove Recovery House Board of Directors in early 2026. Her expertise, passion, and commitment to our mission will help strengthen our efforts to serve women on their recovery journey.

How did you learn about Dove Recovery House for Women?

To be honest, I don’t recall the first time I was introduced to Dove. I participated in the Woman’s Fund and learned about many organizations through CICF. Dove always struck me as such a unique need in our community and I gravitated toward learning more about Dove & contributing to them as a sponsor/supporter.

What made you want to become a Board Member of Dove House?

As an avid supporter of Dove I was eager to have an even more lasting impact, outside of financial contributions and word of mouth promotion. When Wendy reached out to see if I would consider a board seat, I was elated. I had just rolled off another board commitment and the timing was perfect.

What do you hope to achieve during your time as a Board Member?

I want to learn more about the inner workings of Dove. I hope to be an advocate of the organization to others in the community. Outside of the annual fundraising dessert auction, there are so many ways for people to support Dove throughout the year. Addiction affects more people than we know. It doesn’t discriminate based upon income, education or location. I think it’s crucial to help break the stigma around dependency allowing women to truly feel able to ask for help.

Outside of your work with Dove Recovery House, what are your passions or hobbies?

My husband and I have3 children & 4pets.We lovetravelling and exploring new places together. As our kids grow older, it’s important to share these experiences with them.

We also love our neighborhood and community (Meridian Kessler). Supporting local businesses, being involved in the community, and making it a great place to live. I am also very passionate about health & fitness. You’ll often find us walking our two husky mixes in the neighborhood.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge faced by the women Dove House serves? and how can the organization continue to address it?

I’m trying to figure this out now. I would suspect it’s the sustainability of staying sober after leaving Dove. I grew up in a household with substance abuse. I first hand saw how it could break a family and ultimately change the direction of each person’s life. Outside of our waitlist (which is a challenge in itself), ensuring these women have the tools, support and resources to become self-sufficient after leaving Dove seems to be critical.

Just for fun! What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

You can’t control what other people say, think or do. The only thing you can truly control is how YOU react to a situation.
