Lori Chambers Recognized with the Multiplying Good Jefferson Award for Nearly Two Decades of Service

This week at Dove House, we witnessed a moment we’ve long anticipated – Lori Chambers received The Jefferson Award for Multiplying Good for her extraordinary commitment to Dove Recovery House for Women. In a heartwarming surprise captured by WRTV6’s Nicole Griffin, Lori was presented with the award as all the Doves gathered around her, showing the same love and support she’s given them for nearly two decades.

Since 2006, Lori and her husband Gary have dedicated themselves to Dove House, giving countless hours of service and kindness to the women in recovery. Their journey began with Lori’s “Feed Everyone” ministry at St. Luke United Methodist Church, where they collected food donations from Trader Joe’s and delivered them to Dove House. Eighteen years later, this ministry continues under Lori’s leadership.

In 2017, Lori felt called to expand her role. After speaking with Dove House CEO Wendy Noe, she began leading a resilience class that has since become a core part of our program. Lori’s weekly class has supported more than 500 women, helping them find hope and strength on their journey to recovery.

The couple’s devotion doesn’t stop there. Every November, Lori and Gary bring their photography equipment to Dove House, capturing portraits of each woman as a gift to share with family, representing their journey toward transformation and new beginnings.

Lori’s generosity also extends to her wider community. Through St. Luke United Methodist Church and the United Women of Faith, Lori organizes donations and volunteer opportunities for Dove House. Each year, she arranges a holiday celebration for the Doves, complete with a “shopping” experience where women can pick gifts for their children and family photos with Santa, courtesy of Gary.

Lori’s enduring love and dedication to our Dove House community truly make her deserving of The Jefferson Award. Her work has brought communities together, inspired hope, and multiplied good in ways that reach far beyond our walls. Watch the video to see Lori’s surprise and join us in celebrating her incredible impact!
