Dove Recovery House for Women Names Chief Operating Officer

Indianapolis nonprofit leader Lara Chandler takes on a new executive role with Marion County’s largest women’s treatment and recovery residence

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Dove Recovery House for Women has named Lara Chandler as its first Chief Operating Officer. In this new leadership role for Dove House, Chandler will lead the nonprofit’s daily business operations in the areas of finance, human resources, grant strategy and technology.

“Lara brings more than two decades of experience and expertise to Dove House, as well as a true passion for the mission,” said Dove House CEO Wendy Noe. “She is the ideal person to take on the COO role and help Dove House enter a new and exciting chapter as we expand services within the Indianapolis community and launch a new program in Dubois County later this year.”

Before joining the Dove House team, Chandler was the Chief Operating Officer for Coburn Place Safe Haven. During her eleven-year tenure at Coburn Place, she also served as VP of Mission Advancement and Community Outreach Coordinator. Additionally, she is the Executive Director of The Brave Heart Foundation, a private foundation that provides funding to support programs that help underserved populations primarily in Indiana.

“My core belief that everyone should be treated fairly, with kindness and be afforded every opportunity fits perfectly with the mission of Dove House to empower women,” said Chandler. “I am beyond excited to work with the Dove House team in this new role. Increasing self-sufficiency and access to support for the women Dove House serves, expanding community engagement and partnering with staff are my top priorities.”

For nearly 25 years, Chandler has made it her mission to empower women through various professional roles including direct support services to victims of crime, domestic violence, child abuse, theft, stalking and homicide. She earned her Master of Leadership Development Degree from St. Mary of the Woods College and her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Ball State University. In addition, she has completed coursework with the Lilly School of Philanthropy as well as the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
