Welcome to the Team: Dove House Therapist, Alea Benjamin

Dove House is thrilled to welcome Alea Benjamin to our team as a therapist at the Marion County location in Indianapolis. She has a diverse background in social work and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for holistic care.

Alea earned her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Southern Indiana. Her dedication to her field led her to various roles, including serving as the assistant social services director for The Salvation Army of Evansville during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she provided support to the homeless population.

She also worked as a school social worker and enjoyed implementing innovative techniques such as play therapy and sand tray therapy to facilitate healing. Alea has training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Brainspotting, and more.

Alea was drawn to Dove House by the warmth and positivity she encountered during the interview process.

“I was immediately welcomed with smiles and positive energy on the day of my interview,” said Alea. “I knew it would be a great work environment and wanted to learn more about what it’s like to support the women at Dove House.”

As a therapist, Alea plays a vital role in supporting the women of Dove House on their journey to recovery. Through individual therapy sessions, she helps clients process trauma, develop coping skills, and cultivate hope for the future.

“My passion as a social worker comes from being able to help others achieve their goals and see the outcomes of their success. I knew that the therapist position would allow me to build relationships and directly impact the lives of the women at Dove House. I would be a part of a very special support system that helps women in recovery heal from their trauma and gain skills to achieve sobriety,” added Alea.

For Alea, Dove House is more than just a workplace—it’s a community dedicated to healing. She values the comprehensive approach to addiction treatment and recognizes the importance of addressing each client’s individual needs. Alea is grateful to be part of a team that prioritizes personalized care and fosters strong relationships.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Alea enjoys traveling, hiking, and indulging her sweet tooth through baking. She also has a fascination with personality tests, which she incorporates into her therapeutic practice.
