Meet Melinda Johnson.
She is joining the Dove House team as the resident advocate at the new Dubois County home. Her experience working in the mental health field and having the opportunity to continue caring for the underserved population are what initially attracted her to Dove House. She has her bachelor’s degree in nursing and has worked in healthcare for over thirty years. She previously worked as the nursing supervisor at Evansville State Hospital.
In her role as a resident advocate, Melinda will work with the rest of the Dubois County team and the residents of that home. She will help to maintain the house as well as encourage and support those that need a little extra care.
“I am excited to be the first face that the residents will see when they come through the Dove House door,” Melinda shared. “I look forward to welcoming the residents to their home and being a part of their journey.”
When she comes to Dove House, she can feel the positivity when she walks through the door and also can feel that there is going to be a lot of healing done within those walls.
Melinda told us, “I want to be a constant in these ladies’ lives. I want them to know I am going to be here, Monday through Friday. I hope to be a source of stability which may have been lacking in their past.”
In her free time, Melinda enjoys spending time on Patoka Lake with her husband and family. She has four daughters and seven grandsons. Three of their daughters are married and the fourth will be having a wedding in 2023!
